STudents & Parents FAQ

How does youth tutor initiative work?

Youth Tutor Initiative is an entirely online tutoring program for students K-8. Students are matched with tutors at the beginning of each session based on their academic needs. Tutors will then schedule weekly meetings with their students until the end of the session. Students have the option of having one-on-one sessions with their tutors or they can join a group session with other students.

How Long does tutoring last?

Sessions last around 6 to 10 weeks (depending on the session). The Winter Sessions last around 7 weeks, while our Spring Sessions are around 10 weeks.

How much do services cost?

Youth Tutor Initiative is completely free! However, you are more than welcome to donate to help improve our services.

If I have more than one child, Can I sign them both uP?

If you have more than one child, you are able to sign them up for tutoring. Parents do need to fill out a tutor request form for each child being registered for tutoring.

How Do I Become a tutor?

To sign up to be a tutor, navigate to the "Become A Tutor" tab at the top of the website. You will receive more information about the application process as well as a link to the form you will need to submit for your application to be received by us.

How Do I schedule sessions?

You will have to reach out to your assigned student and their parents to establish the best times to have sessions. After scheduling sessions, you will have to create a recurring meeting link and send it to your student and to the YTI Supervisor to keep track of the meetings.
